LAST ISSUE WE PROMISED you a new Jack Shade novella by Rachel Pollack to end the year, but because of the way the layouts and timing worked out, you're going to get "Homecoming" to start the year instead. Joining it will be a new story from Nina Kiriki Hoffman, who is returning to these pages after a long absence. The issue will also include "Wetherfell's Reef Runics," a story about beaches, books, and ancient gods, by Marc Laidlaw, and "A Gathering on Gravity's Shore," in which Gregor Hartmann visits the planet Zephyr for another of Franden's adventures. Plus we'll have F&SF debuts from Monica Byrne and Wole Talabi.

Looking ahead to our March/April issue, we'll be bringing you "The Man Who Put the Bomp," a brand new saur novella by Richard Chwedyk, and Matthew Hughes will be introducing Baldemar, a new character in his Archonate universe. The new year will also bring you stories by familiar names like Eleanor Arnason, Richard Bowes, Leah Cypess, Robert Reed, and Nick Wolven, plus work from talented newcomers including Sean Adams, Ingrid Garcia, Arundhati Hazra, and Juan Paulo Rafols.

Renew your subscription now and share the great stories with a loved one by giving an F&SF gift subscription at a 22% discount. You can find all the details on our website at under the "Gift Subscription" link.
